Council member Amy Peck said the tax was not part of the fee as it was described to council. The city attorney's office says state law requires it.

The Houston Zoo will sell $7.13 admission tickets Saturday, July 11 through Monday, July 13 for 713 Day weekend. The zoo also will offer a $35 limited-edition ballcap bundle and collect retired small electronics during the event.
