A 19-year-old woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after Harris County Precinct 3 deputies say she stabbed a pregnant woman during a visit to a home in northeast Houston's Greenwood area. The victim suffered wounds to her face, arms and hands, deputies said.
Deputies responded to a call reporting a life-threatening situation at a home in the 12000 block of Dona Lane early Thursday morning. When they arrived, they found a pregnant woman with injuries to her face and arms. EMS crews took her to a hospital with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries, and she is expected to recover.
The suspect, identified in court records as Carrieale Williams, was arrested at 5:52 a.m. Thursday and charged with aggravated assault. The victim is identified in a charging document as Jaidyn Thomas.
According to Precinct 3 investigators, Williams invited Thomas to the home on Dona Lane. Once inside, Thomas noticed Williams trying to conceal a knife. When Thomas spotted the weapon, Williams reached for it and a struggle followed. Investigators say Williams then began striking Thomas with the blade, causing stab wounds to her face, arms and hands.
Investigators say Williams and Thomas know each other through church. Court records allege a more direct source of conflict between the two: Thomas is dating Williams' ex-boyfriend.
Williams appeared before a judge overnight following her arrest. During the hearing, the judge laid out the allegations directly. "The allegations are that you used a knife to stab this complainant. Allegedly, this person is pregnant, allegedly dating your ex-boyfriend," the judge told Williams.
The judge also brought up a previous case on Williams' record involving another pregnant woman. "Do note that you have a prior assault of a pregnant person from just last year involving a different complainant," the judge said. Court records from that 2025 case show Williams was accused of assaulting her own sister, who was six months pregnant at the time, during an argument over a phone charger. Prosecutors said Williams pushed her sister down and punched her in the stomach. That case was dismissed after Williams completed a 10-hour anger management course.
A prosecutor requested a $3,000 bond during Williams' overnight appearance. The judge instead transferred the case to the trial court to set bond, citing the severity of the current allegations involving a knife. A protective order was also approved on Thomas' behalf.
Williams' case has been assigned to the 185th District Court, with a first court setting scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24. She faces a felony aggravated assault charge, with the charging document identifying the knife used in the attack as a deadly weapon.
Harris County court records show no romantic or domestic relationship between Williams and Thomas themselves, though the alleged motive stems from Thomas' relationship with Williams' former boyfriend. Precinct 3 has not released additional details about how the two women's paths crossed through their shared church community beyond confirming that connection.
Bond will be set in the trial court ahead of Monday's hearing. Prosecutors have not yet said whether they will pursue additional charges tied to Williams' prior assault allegation involving her sister.
