Power Electronics breaks ground on 53-acre Houston-area manufacturing campus expected to add 400 jobs

Power Electronics broke ground on a 53-acre manufacturing campus in the Houston area. The company said the project is expected to bring more than 400 new jobs to the region.

The company held a groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 24 at the future campus site. Power Electronics said executives, customers, industry partners, and community members attended the event.

The campus will consist of two buildings: one of 150,000 square feet and another of 700,000 square feet. Power Electronics said the site will bring together logistics, production, electronics manufacturing, research and development, training, and corporate offices.

Power Electronics makes equipment for solar energy, storage, data centers, e-mobility, and drives. The company said it has invested in its U.S. presence for more than a decade by building local teams and operations.

When fully operational, the Houston campus is expected to become the company's most automated inverter production site and provide up to 40 GW of annual production capacity, according to the company.

"For the first time in many years, the United States will be able to meet its growing need for sustainable power generation capacity and energy resilience through local manufacturing, supported by the most advanced technology in the world," Power Electronics CEO David Salvo said in a news release. "Our 40 GW Houston Campus will help shape the future of energy and AI growth globally."
