Saddle Creek to Lay Off 168 Workers at New Caney Warehouse in June

Saddle Creek Logistics Services will lay off 168 employees at its New Caney facility in Montgomery County on June 11, 2026, according to a notice filed with the Texas Workforce Commission under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

The company filed the Texas notice on April 15. The filing did not give a reason for the layoffs and did not say what support, if any, affected workers will receive.

New Caney is in Montgomery County northeast of Houston. The site is part of the company’s warehousing and distribution network, serving manufacturers, retailers, and e-commerce businesses.

Saddle Creek is a third-party logistics provider based in Lakeland, Florida. It was founded in 1966 as Saddle Creek Corporation and now operates under the name Saddle Creek Logistics Services. Its services include warehousing, transportation, omnichannel fulfillment, contract packaging, and freight brokerage.

The Texas layoffs follow a similar notice tied to another Saddle Creek facility. In a Feb. 27 filing with the Alabama Department of Labor, the company reported it would lay off 151 employees at its Bessemer facility. Those cuts were scheduled for April 30.

The company has recently promoted automation projects and warehouse expansion while maintaining its contract work with large retail clients. It has been named “Logistics Partner of the Year” by Sam’s Club multiple times.

The Texas Workforce Commission receives WARN filings for plant closures and mass layoffs so state and local workforce agencies can prepare response services. The New Caney notice does not say whether the site will close or continue operating after the cuts take effect.
