League City approves $49.76 million contract for Pat Hallisey Park sports complex near Calder Drive and Ervin Street

League City City Council approved a $49.76 million construction contract with Harris County-based SpawGlass Construction Corp. at its Oct. 13 meeting to build Pat Hallisey Park on the city's west side, near Calder Drive and Ervin Street.

The city said the park will be a regional recreational facility. Approved plans include 12 pickleball courts, five softball fields, four baseball fields, batting practice cages, two tennis courts, two soccer fields, a picnic shelter, two playgrounds, a memorial garden, a 10-foot-wide decomposed granite trail and detention ponds.

City documents say the project will be paid for through park dedication fees and sales-tax revenue from the city's 4B Industrial Development Corp.

The park honors former League City Mayor Pat Hallisey, who served as mayor from 2016 to 2022 and also directed the League City and Galveston County park departments. The council approved naming the sportsplex after Hallisey in February 2025, following a push led by council member Tommy Cones.

"Pat Hallisey is probably the most deserving guy for this in League City," Cones said at that meeting. "Pat ... loved his community. He worked very hard in his younger days to have a vision for League City and make League City what it is today."

City documents list the construction schedule at 570 days, or roughly a year and a half. The city has not confirmed whether construction has started.
