Fox 26 Houston morning anchor DaLaun Dillard says contract not renewed after nearly 3 years

Morning anchor DaLaun Dillard is leaving Fox 26 Houston after nearly three years. He announced the departure Monday in a social media post, saying his contract was not renewed.
His final day is Friday, Oct. 23. Dillard did not announce a next job and wrote that he is "excited for all that God is writing in the next chapter."
"Some chapters are harder to close than others," Dillard wrote in the post.
Dillard thanked Houston viewers for embracing him and said the city has given him some of the greatest joy and happiness of his life, particularly outside of work. He said he appreciated being allowed to be himself on and off camera.
"Thank you for loving ALLLLLL of me," he wrote. "Thank you for adopting me as y'all's son, nephew, brother, cousin, etc. Thank you for giving me the freedom to simply be… ME."
Fox 26 Houston did not immediately release additional details about the departure or any on-air staffing changes. Dillard's announcement did not say whether he plans to remain in Houston or leave the broadcast market.
