Saddle Creek Logistics to lay off 168 workers at New Caney warehouse in June

Saddle Creek Logistics Services will lay off 168 employees at its New Caney facility in Montgomery County on June 11, 2026, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice the company filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on April 15.
The filing did not state a reason for the reductions or say what support the company will offer affected workers. The New Caney site is one of the company's Texas locations in the Houston-area freight and distribution corridor.
Saddle Creek Logistics Services is a third-party logistics company based in Lakeland, Florida. Founded in 1966, it is a 3PL provider that offers warehousing, transportation, omnichannel fulfillment and contract packaging for manufacturers, retailers and e-commerce companies. The company rebranded from Saddle Creek Corporation to Saddle Creek Logistics Services.
The Texas layoffs follow another round of reductions at a company facility in Alabama. In a February 27, 2026 notice to the Alabama Department of Labor, Saddle Creek said it would lay off 151 employees at its Bessemer facility. Those cuts were scheduled for April 30, 2026.
The company has expanded warehouse facilities and introduced automation solutions in recent years. Sam's Club also recognized Saddle Creek as its Logistics Partner of the Year.
WARN notices are required when employers plan large-scale layoffs or plant closures and must be filed with state workforce agencies in advance. The Texas Workforce Commission collects and publishes these notices to track planned job losses and coordinate local response efforts.
The company did not provide additional details about the New Caney layoffs beyond the state filing.
